Over 52% of Newcastle fans are backing their forward Alexander Isak to win the Golden Boot this season in England’s top division, according to Ladbrokes’ new Fanzone data.

Only 5% of Geordies are putting money on Man City superstar Erling Haaland to take the crown for a second year running. Isak’s teammate Callum Wilson is also fancied more by the Toon Army than Haaland with 10% of the bets going the Englishman’s way.

These statistics come from Ladbrokes’ new Fanzone, where if you’re a fan of a top division side, you can sign up and receive boosts that are made on your favourite team. You’ll also receive a bunch of extra add ons including free bets and free games to play

Newcastle’s Swedish forward managed 10 league goals in 22 appearances last season under the leadership of Eddie Howe and played a part in the Magpies reaching Europe’s elite club competition for the first time since the 2002/2003 season.

Isak already has two goals in four games for the Tyneside club this season, although they did both come on the opening day of the season in their 5-1 thrashing of Aston Villa.

Whilst fans don’t necessarily agree with the Geordies in their betting, there is a suggestion that they feel Isak will be Haaland’s closest rival to the Golden Boot crown. 16% of bets on the market have gone towards Haaland with 13% of the money going on Isak. Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Darwin Nunez feature next in the betting with 8% and 7% of the bets respectively.

It’s safe to say that if anyone is going to knock the Norwegian striker off his perch, they’re going to need a season to remember. In his debut year last season the 23-year-old amassed 35 goals. Whilst some fans thought he may not continue his form this season, the powerhouse already has seven goals in five league appearances.

Like Newcastle fans, Tottenham fans are also backing their own player to outperform Haaland. 21% of the Spurs faithful that have had a flutter on the market this season have backed their own striker Son-Heung Min with 18% thinking Haaland will win back-to-back crowns.
