Chelsea completed the signing of N'Golo Kante last week despite thinking he was on his way to Arsenal.
The diminutive Frenchman was highly sought after following his brilliant performance for Leicester City en route to their Premier League triumph. He was subject to intense transfer speculation until Antonio Conte won the race to his coveted signature.
The 25-year-old moves to 'The Bridge' for a fee of £32 million while earning £100,00-a-week, though it's emerged that Arsenal were initially favourites to acquire his services but the Gunners failing to follow up on their interest, led the frustrated figure to opt for Chelsea.
Squakwa details how Arsene Wenger expressed his desire to snap him up where he privately claimed they were prepared to trigger his release clause but stalling the deal while signing Granit Xhaka led to them pulling out.

The report also indicates that the Foxes were keen to sell to the highest bidder which ultimately came from the Blues, and Wenger already having many central midfielders at his disposal probably came into the equation, too.
