Manchester City Fans Banned From Wearing Belts For Clash Against Napoli

If you're sitting within the south-west corner of Stadio San Paolo between the Curva Sud and the main grandstand on Wednesday night, you may witness some hairy, middle-aged legs if Pep Guardiola's side manage to find the net.

Manchester City fans have been banned from wearing a BELT to watch their game against Napoli and it could spell disaster for thousands of away fans.

There is, however, a reason behind the lack of belts.

It seems Napoli have previously had issues with fans using belts as weapons and have therefore banned them in the famous Stadio San Paolo venue.

If fans are spotted wearing a belt on entrance to the stadium, they will have them removed.

Kevin Parker, who works as a secretary for the Manchester City Supporters Club, has expressed his outrage at the decision, branding the lack of belts as 'ridiuclous':

"It's absolutely crazy. I know they have had issues with Napoli fans using belts as weapons but since when has that been a thing in England? Why, all of a sudden, should City fans be banned?" he told the Daily Mail. '"

"It seems like something always happens with City in this competition. First we're banned from booing, then we were banned from a stadium and now we have been banned from wearing belts."

It emerged this week that a Napoli fan was jailed after attacking Manchester City fans with home-made weapons before the Champions League tie at the Etihad.

After the game, it was confirmed that a father and his 17-year-old son were among three people left injured after the attack.

The Napoli fan, Gianluca Del-Prato, admitted affray and was jailed for five months. He was also ordered to pay £500 compensation to the 17-year-old and £250 to his father.
