Vincent Kompany's Anderlecht Are In 'Advanced Talks' To Sign Samir Nasri

Vincent Kompany is lining up an emotion reunion with Samri Nasri as his first signing for Anderlecht.

According to Belgium outlet HLN Sport, Anderlecht are in advanced talks with Nasri.

The 32-year-old attacking midfielder is a free agent following the expiration of his West Ham United contract. He signed a short-term deal with the Hammers until the 2018/19 season.

He played six games for them with his biggest contribution coming against his former side Arsenal, where he set-up Declan Rice's winner in the Premier League.

Nasri is now in negotiations with Anderlecht over a transfer in view to becoming Kompany's first signing since being appointed player-manager.

The Frenchman enjoyed five seasons with Kompany at City. He won two Premier League titles and a League Cup before leaving England.

The 33-year-old defender has also reportedly held talks with two of his international teammates in Nacer Chadli and Thomas Vermaelen.

Despite falling short of the title last season, Kompany believes Anderlecht can go all the way next season.

"In one season we have to get better than five other teams," he said at his first press conference.

"But I am convinced that with a few changes we will succeed.

"I do not want to choose between playing nice football or becoming champions. I want both.

"I know that I put so much pressure on myself. Let's be very clear, I didn't come here to be second."
