He may have been part of a side that's won five successive Serie A title's but defender Stephen Lichtsteiner has been left out of their Champions League squad.
Reports in Italy claim that Lichtsteiner handed in a transfer request to join Inter Milan this summer but Juventus rejected the proposal. Bare in mind that it was also claimed that the 32-year-old had agreed terms with Inter.

Lichtsteiner has come out and denied the story but Juventus have strangely left the Swiss defender out of their UEFA Champions League squad ahead of the new season, which does suggest something is going on behind the scenes.
Ia a Facebook post, he said the following: "Dear Fans, I believe in facts rather than words. I live and breathe every game and every training session for the jersey that I wear and for the success of my team. That was never different and will never change! In this sense...FinoAllaFine!"
But as we said earlier, why have Juventus dropped him from the UCL squad? It all seems very peculiar.
Here's how Twitter reacted:

Really disrespectful for leaving Lichtsteiner out of the list. Doesn't matter if Alves is a Champions League winner or Cuadrado is back.

Stephan Lichtsteiner out of the Champions League for Juve. Maybe to sell him to a participant club in January?
