Gerard Deulofeu has spoken up about Barcelona's recent hire of Ronald Koeman as their new manager. Deulofeu grew up in the Barcelona academy and played under Koeman at Everton.

Ronald Koeman has become the newest manager of Barcelona after Quique Setien was sacked after their embarrassing 8-2 loss to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.

The Dutch manager played for Barcelona under Johan Cruyff from 1989 to 1995 and was known for his incredible shooting and scoring ability from either centre-back or defensive midfield.

However, even though he is from the same school of managing as Pep Guardiola, his man-management hasn't always been the best according to Gerard Deulofeu.

Deulofeu joined Everton from Barcelona on a permanent deal in 2015, having enjoyed a loan spell at Goodison Park in 2013/14, but the Spaniard cannot recall any happy memories of playing under Koeman, who arrived in 2016.

"I can tell you about Koeman from my personal experience," Deulofeu told Cataluna Radio.

"He provided me absolutely nothing. I wasn't happy, I asked to leave and I went to Milan [on loan]. We'll see how he does at the Camp Nou."

The Spaniard had impressed in his loan spell, and then when the deal was made permanent, Deulofeu scored four goals and created 13 assists in all competitions for Everton. Deulofeu had worked very well with Spanish manager Roberto Martinez, before he was sacked in favour of Koeman.

Deulofeu's game time at Goodison dropped substantially after Koeman was appointed. The player then returned to Barca - where he was a product of the club's La Masia academy - in the summer of 2017. The 26-year-old now represents Watford.

What do you think of Deulofeu's analysis on Ronald Koeman?
