Andy Carroll scored two important goals during West Ham's last minute win against West Brom on Tuesday night.

The 28-year-old has struggled for form in recent weeks, but his brace reminded us of how dangerous he can be when on top form.

Some even suggested that he should go to the World Cup later in the year.

His goals against the Baggies were his first of the 2017/18 season and perhaps a certain club have got a little bit carried away with him finding the net.

In one of the most bizarre transfer stories in recent memory, Chelsea have targeted Andy Carroll as a potential signing in the January transfer window.

In fact, Chelsea have already made enquiries about the former Liverpool striker, according to The Daily Mail.

Antonio Conte is reportedly ready to allow Michy Batshuayi to leave Chelsea this month, and wants a suitable replacement for the Belgian forward as well as back up for Alvaro Morata.

Morata himself was subject to severe criticism following his display against Arsenal.

The defending English champions traveled across London to face Arsenal, with Antonio Conte drafting in Eden Hazard, who played in behind summer signing Alvaro Morata.

The Spaniard failed to convert any of his chances versus Arsenal, missing a sitter in the first half, then another effort in the second half.

I can't believe I'm saying this but, do you think Andy Carroll could challenge Morata in the Chelsea starting XI?

Is he good enough to play in the Champions League for one of the biggest clubs in Europe? Can he challenge the likes of Alvaro Morata for a first team place?

Let us know in the comments.
