Andy Carroll scores the most ridiculous goal from 40 yards, he's loving life in France

Andy Carroll is plying his trade in France with second-division side Amiens.

Amiens forward Andy Carroll continued his superb start to life in France at the weekend with a goal of the season contender in their Ligue 2 clash against Annecy.

The 34-year-old former Liverpool and Newcastle striker made a surprise deadline day move to Amiens after triggering a release clause in his contract with League One side Reading.

He opened his Ligue 2 account on October 7th against high-flying Angers and two weeks later, Carroll doubled his tally with one of the best goals of his career to date.

After spotting Florian Escales off his line, he proceeded to lob the Annecy goalkeeper from just outside of the centre circle – a 40-yard effort that levelled the scores at the Parc des Sports.

Caroll, who wears the number 99 shirt, celebrated scoring in back-to-back games with some wonderful celebrations. Check it out below:

Speaking to The Daily Mail earlier this month, Carroll opened up about his move to France.

"I was at Newcastle from seven years old. I made my debut at 17. I just thought, 'You know what, if I don’t go (abroad) now then I’ll never go'. I had another season at Reading. I wasn’t playing and I spoke to the manager. He wanted legs up top which is something I don’t have. I was going to say 'anymore' but I don’t think I ever had them.

"I wanted a challenge. A challenge in a completely different country. A fresh start. I spoke to my agent and said, “Get me a club abroad”. I came here and it was the one. It’s a one and half hour drive to Calais and I can get the shuttle back to Epping (the family home).

"Here I can take my kids to the zoo here and they’re not saying, 'Come on dad' because people are asking for photos or autographs. There’s a little pub around the corner where me and a couple of the boys went to watch Newcastle beat PSG the other week. No one said a word to me.”

Carroll will likely feature for Amiens in their next league game against Stade Laval on Saturday.
