Gerrard, Scholes and Lampard have been frequently compared by fans as they attempt to settle who was the best out of the trio.
During a fan Q&A on Twitter in 2017, Kroos had no hesitation in naming Scholes ahead of fellow Premier League legends Gerrard and Lampard in the long-running debate.
"I'd like to think I played a little bit like Luka Modric," the Manchester United legend said.
"He's different to me because he was quicker than me, he can beat a man, but I see certain traits in him, like controlling a game.
"When I watch those two for Real Madrid in those great European Cup-winning teams, they're the two.
"It's probably more towards Toni Kroos, as a passer and more of a controlling player. He doesn't really get involved physically with people and scores the odd goal here and there.
"I think if I had to choose between the two I'd be more like Kroos than Modric."
When asked who was the best of the three, the former England international responded: "Stevie G and Frank, of course.
"I'm sick to death of hearing about this, to be honest. It doesn't really matter. People can have their own opinions.
"Them two were amazing, amazing players. But very different players."
