Real Madrid announced the signing of midfielder Dani Ceballos on a six-year contract following the departure of James Rodriguez to Bayern Munich earlier this week.

Ceballos was one of the stars of the U21 European Championships in Poland last month, and was crowned as Player of The Tournament en route to helping Spain reach the final, where they lost to Germany.

His performances in Poland lead Barca expressing an interest. They reportedly tabled a bid of €20 million, €5 million above his release clause, with Serie A champions Juventus also matching Los Blancos' offer.

The extra €5 milllion is claimed to be commissions for Ceballos' agent and entourage, according to Football Italia, who also reported, despite the Italian champions' interest, that Ceballos would prefer a move to Real.

As we all know, Ceballos clearly preferred a move to Los Blancos following the official announcement and it seems Real are determined to keep him at the club for a very long time.

Ceballos, who made over 60 appearances for Los Verdiblancos in the past two seasons, has been given a gigantic release clause of €500million to ward off any interest.

We've seen some release clauses in our time but this must be up there with one of the biggest ever.

Do you think Ceballos has the ability to succeed at the Bernabeu?
