Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich midfielder Xabi Alonso is responsible for scoring one of the greatest penalties of all time when on international duty.
It might have been some years since he retired but we still haven't come to terms with Alonso calling time on his illustrious career - so we're casually reminiscing about his playing days.
And while looking through his impressive career, we've stumbled across a penalty. No, Liverpool fans, not THAT penalty in Istanbul.

Sure, he may have missed that spot-kick in the Champions League final (though props to him on getting the rebound), but Alonso was, more often than not, a deadly penalty taker.
Case in point; his effort for Spain against Argentina. It may have just been an international friendly but Alonso gave a masterclass on how to put a spot-kick away.
After being awarded a pen in the dying stages of the game, Alonso stepped up to execute perfectly.
Now that's how you take a penalty.

The midfield maestro enjoyed great success on the international stage, winning not one but two European Championships as well as the coveted World Cup in 2010.
He enjoyed spells at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, winning almost everything there is to win in a trophy-laden career - holding aloft the Champions League with both Liverpool and Los Blancos.
Not to mention other major silverware from La Liga's, Bundesliga's and FA Cup's.
Back in 2017, he posted a picture of him waving goodbye accompanied with the words; "Lived it. Loved it. Farewell beautiful game" as he announced his retirement.
Thoughts on Alonso's penalty?
