Xabi Alonso turns 37 years young today, so what better way to celebrate the coolest bloke in football by showing you his, and arguably the greatest ever penalty-kick.
It might have been some years since he retired, but we still haven't come to terms with the fact that Xabi Alonso has called time on his illustrious career, so we're reminiscing about his playing days.
And while going through his incredible career at the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid, we've stumbled cross a penalty.

No - Liverpool fans, not THAT penalty in Istanbul.
Sure, he may have had this spot kick in the Champions League final saved (though props to him on getting the rebound), but Alonso is indeed a deadly penalty taker.
Case in point; his effort for Spain against Argentina. It may have just been an international friendly, though Alonso gave a masterclass on how to put a penalty away.
After being awarded a pen in the dying stages of the game, step up Alonso who executed perfectly.

Now that's how you take a penalty. Top bins.
The midfield maestro enjoyed great success on international duty, winning not one but two European Championships as well as the coveted World Cup in 2010.
He enjoyed spells at Liverpool, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, winning the lot during his career - holding aloft the UEFA Champions League with both Real (2013/2014) and Liverpool (2004/2005).

Not to mention other major silverware from La Liga's, Bundesliga's and FA Cup's.
He posted a picture of him waving goodbye accompanied with the words; "Lived it. Loved it. Farewell beautiful game." as he announced his retirement.
The career he has forged is near impossible to replicate. Xabi, you're missed.

We may never see his like again, so make the most of these highlights. Happy Birthday.
