Swansea City and West Brom are both looking to improve their respective defences with the addition of German defender Holger Badstuber.

The centre-back came through the ranks at Bayern and went on to become a regular in the 2009/10 season, playing a key role in the club's League and cup double under Louis van Gaal, as well as reaching the Champions League final but losing out to Inter Milan in the final.

He also forced his way into the Germany national team fold and featured at the 2010 World Cup.

However persistent injury problems have stunted Badstuber's progress and now at the age of 28, he is available on a free transfer having ended his 15-year stint in Bavaria.

Badstuber spent the second half of the 2016/17 campaign on loan at Schalke after barely playing at Bayern, and made 10 appearances in all competitions.

The Bundesliga side opted against taking him on permanently after his release from Bayern and now Badstuber is attracting interest from the Premier League.

The Sunday People reports that West Brom are keen on the experienced defender as they look to add to the air already stern backline.

But they face competition from fellow Premier League Swansea and there's a link that could give the Swans the advantage.

Manager Paul Clement worked with Badstuber when he was Carlo Ancelotti's right-hand man at Bayern Munich and the opportunity to link up again in a new environment could be appealing?

West Brom and Swansea fans, would you take Badstuber on a free transfer this summer?
