Cesc Fabregas Was Doing Cesc Fabregas Things On His AS Monaco Debut
Cesc Fabregas has got a lot of work to do at AS Monaco but early signs are positive.
Cesc Fabregas, 31, made his AS Monaco debut on Sunday night against Marseille following his transfer from Chelsea.
Wow. I'm honoured to announce that I will be starting an exciting journey with this wonderfully historic Club. @as_monaco will be my home for the next 3.5 years and I cannot wait to start this new challenge. #daghemunegu #NowItsTime pic.twitter.com/t2rB4Vqklh- Cesc Fàbregas Soler (@cesc4official) January 11, 2019
Thierry Henry wasted no time in playing him, starting the Spaniard in midfield and while he started a little shaky, he grew into the game being creative as ever, threading beautiful passes in the attacking third.
New league, same Fabregas vision. He played some delightful balls and nearly provided a match-winning assist.

He's not as quick or strong as he used to be, but he still retains that trademark composure, vision, and intelligence that made him one of the best midfielders in Premier League history.

@cesc4official made his #monaco debut today being thrusted right into the Starting XI by Henry; no surprise really they need him to make an instant impact! Match ended 1-1 vs #Marseille Cesc recorded most passes on the team with 61! It's hard seeing him in a new shirt! #Fabregas pic.twitter.com/7rO6toMFBP- Alex Peers (@dj_themes) January 13, 2019
Florian Thauvin an increasingly irresistible player = would've been his 12th league goal of the season, but VAR rules it out - still 1-1 vs Monaco, who have been in control thanks to Fabregas.- Get French Football News (@GFFN) January 13, 2019
A composed performance from Fabregas.
His new side went behind in the 13th minute. Marseille's Maxime Lopez fired the hosts in front from long range.
Youri Tieleman then leveled seven minutes before the break to secure a point for AS Monaco.
The French outfit are still struggling in the league, currently occupying a relegation spot with the league at the half-way mark.
