Ryan Giggs is in line to become the new manager of championship club Nottingham Forest.

The Manchester United legend had been serving as an assistant to Louis van Gaal until he got the sack, Giggs had been weighing up his options as he is set to head into life as a manager rather than staying at Old Trafford.

It's believed that new boss Jose Mourinho had offered the Welshman a coaching gig though he's snubbed the offer in favour of becoming a manager himself.

Giggs has enjoyed an extremely successful 29 years at United as player and coach, where he even had a spell in charge as caretaker boss when David Moyes was sacked back in 2014 taking control of four games where his record stood - two wins, one draw and one defeat.

The 42-year-old will be succeeding Dougie Freedman who was relived of his duties in March, where Paul Williams took over as for the remainder of the season eventually finishing a poor 16th, yet Forest are tipped to compete for promotion with fixtures for the 2016/2017 football league campaign to be revealed this Wednesday.
