Ryan Giggs has spoke for the first time about Jose Mourinho's appointment as Manchester United manager, after the Welshman left Old Trafford following an incredible 29 year association with the club.

Giggs departed the Theatre Of Dreams, where he created so many memories over his trophy laden career, in the wake of United's appointment of 'The Special One', who didn't require Giggs as his assistant manager in the same way Louis Van Gaal did during his two year tenure with the club.

In an exclusive interview with CNN, Giggs gave his backing to United's new Portuguese manager and insisted that he's looking forward to the next chapter of his career:

"Jose Mourinho is obviously a top, top manager. United are always about winning trophies - and he's proven."

"I've never been one to look back, I always look forward. Ultimately, I want to be a manager in my own right. I've had a great apprenticeship playing under Sir Alex Ferguson and then working under Louis van Gaal in the last couple of years. I've really enjoyed it."

Giggs lifted the FA Cup as Van Gaal's assistant and has already been linked with several managerial roles in England, including the Nottingham Forest and Bolton Wanderers jobs.
