Maxi Lopez has put his fierce rivalry with Mauro Icardi to one side by insisting that he has forgiven him for allegedly 'stealing his wife' Wanda Nara.

The 26-year-old Paris Saint-Germain striker, who is on loan from Inter Milan, has been married to the Argentine beaut since 2014 and she also serves as his agent.

Lopez and Nara initially tied the knot in 2008 before accusations of cheating emerged from both sides, with Icardi allegedly involved in the strange love triangle.

But former Barcelona and River Plate player Lopez claims that he has put his difference with former Inter Milan captain Icardi aside.

When he was asked if he had 'forgiven' his fellow Argentine for 'stealing' his wife, the 35-year-old told Argentine radio show FM 94.7 Club Octubre: "Yeah, I do not have any problems with anyone.

"Speaking as a human being, all I want is to find a way to make my children happy, that is the only objective I have.

"As for everything else, that is something that already happened.

"I turned the page on that a while ago and it does not affect me in any way."

Lopez, who now plays for Italian side Crotone, had three children with Nara -- Valentino Gaston, Constantino and Benedicto -- and has previously slammed Icardi for causing tension with his kids.

But Nara's former lover said that he must continue to be the father his children need, despite his marriage falling apart.

He explained: "Everyone has problems and complications, life takes the turn you take.

"My children? I repeat, I chose to be happy.

"Even if I failed as a husband, I have to be a father to my children and things must go on."

Lopez's heated rivalry with Icardi hit a boiling point when he came up against him during a match in 2014.

The Crotone player, who played for Sampdoria at the time, refused to shake Icardi's hand and the media would dub the match the 'Wanda derby.'

Nara, who is also a TV host and model, has previously refuted Lopez's allegations by accusing him of having an affair before their marriage fell apart.

She played her part in engineering Icardi's move to the French capital after Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte told the Argentina international he didn't fit in his plans.

Icardi, who was linked with Juventus and Napoli in the summer window, has made four appearances for PSG across all competitions and scored twice.
