Luka Jovic's wretched spell at Real Madrid has got even worse after the Serbia international broke a bone in his foot during lockdown.

Los Blancos posted an official statement confirming Jovic's injury, which is believed to have happened as a result of him exercising at home.

The medical report read: "After the tests carried out today on our player Luka Jović by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with an extra-articular fracture in the calcaneus bone of his right foot. Pending evolution."

It's hoped that the La Liga campaign will resume and the remaining 11 matches will be played starting next month, but it's now certain Jovic won't be fit for the return as he looks to recover from the injury.

It continues a nightmare spell for Jovic, who joined Real in a £54 million move from Benfica after firing 36 goals in 75 games whilst on a two-year loan at Eintracht Frankfurt.

He's made 24 appearances, eight of which were starts, and only completed the full 90 minutes on one occasion thus far.

The 22-year old was always likely to play second-fiddle to Karim Benzema but has only found the net twice as a Real Madrid player.
