Roy Keane's comments on Romelu Lukaku back in 2007 look pretty interesting now.

Manchester United snapped up the Belgium striker for £75 million from Everton. A 'bargain' according to the Irishman.

"He's a good player, a good age, he knows the Premier League," Keane said.

He added: "He was a bargain at £75m. He's got off to a good start, and seems like a decent character.

"You look at his record at Everton, and he's gone to a much better team. It's so obvious he's going to get 25-30 goals this season."

To be fair, Keane did successfully predict Lukaku's goal haul in his debut season but the striker is now under intense scrutiny and the performances he's producing is far from a bargain.

And Lukaku also has failed Keane's 'big test' of scoring in big games.

He's yet to make an impression against the likes of Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea etc.

"The big tests for Lukaku will come in the big games. United haven't had to play anyone big yet, while you can only beat what's in front of you," Keane added.

"The big test for all United strikers is whether he can score the big goals in the big games."

Lukaku is clearly playing with little confidence and is majorly struggling in front of goal.

This campaign, he's only chipped in with four goals in all competitions after netting 27 goals last season.

He'll be seeking to break his goal-duck versus his former team, Everton, on Sunday when United resume their faltering Premier League adventure.
