He's ready to make a very bold statement.

Anthony Martial is struggling for first team football at Manchester United right now, but that won't stop him from signing a new five-year deal at Old Trafford.

Yes, you did read that correctly. Martial is set to pen a long term contract at Manchester United because he seriously believes he can outlast Mourinho at the club, according to The Times,

The report goes on to state that the Frenchman isn't in Mourinho's plans, but the club have decided to offer him a new deal, regardless of the manager's feelings.

It seems Martial has a belief that he can outlast the manager at this stage, something you just have to admire after what has happened in recent weeks.

In pre-season, Mourinho's post-match comments after their defeat to Liverpool was, lets just say, eventful and a controversial comment about Martial certainly got people talking.

The former Monaco forward was given permission to leave the club's pre-season tour on Wednesday to attend the birth of his child.

The 22-year-old posted a picture on Instagram of baby Swan, with the caption "Thank you Lord for giving me a second beautiful child in good health. Thank you my love."

Just days after the birth of his child, Jose Mourinho spoke about Martial's absence after United's pre-season defeat to Liverpool and it has caused a stir, to say the least.

"He has the baby and after the baby is born, beautiful baby, full of health, thank god," Mourinho told MUTV.

"He should be here and he is not here. Now we have Real Madrid and after that we have Bayern Munich, and that is our start."

"I just hope the boys on deserved holidays, they take care of themselves a little bit and somebody wants to do what Rashford and Jones do, which is to be back a little bit earlier to try and help the team because for the beginning of the season we are going to be in trouble."

It was thought Martial could leave Old Trafford in the summer, but those rumours never materialised.
