Anthony Martial's representatives brand Man Utd transfer report 'fake' in Instagram update

Martial has been rumoured with a move away from Old Trafford this summer.

Anthony Martial's representatives have branded transfer rumours 'fake' in an Instagram update.

Martial has been heavily rumoured with a move away from Old Trafford, with Erik ten Hag keen to recoup some of the money he has spent this summer.

The Red Devils have signed Mason Mount, Andre Onana, and Rasmus Hojlund for a combined €192 million (£166m), with a number of players linked with exits including Fred, Donny van de Beek, Scott McTominay, Harry Maguire, Eric Bailly and Martial.

Meanwhile, Hojlund's arrival will undoubtedly limit Martial's chances of first team football, with Hojlund expected to lead the line once back to full fitness.

In turn, Martial was offered to Turkish giants Fenerbache, according to journalist Sercan Hamzaoğlu. The report added that Martial was keen was keen to sign a 3-year contract worth €5m each year, including a signing fee of €4m.

However, the Frenchman's agency has since branded the reports 'fake' in an update on Instagram.

The agency, named USFA Management, posted Hamzaoğlu's tweet on their story, accompanied by the caption, 'FAKE'.

Hamzaoğlu has since responded to the claims, insisting his report was "absolutely true".

"The Martial news we made is absolutely true," the Turkish journalist tweeted on Friday.

"Erkan Sulejmani, who has a certificate of authorisation to represent Martial, clearly suggested the player to Fenerbahçe and conveyed the conditions.

"Fenerbahce stated that the priority is Cengiz and that this transfer can be taken into consideration. Even the Fenerbahçe front said that they were hesitant because of Martial's injury problems.

"I have correspondence about this, but I do not share these documents due to personal rights."

Hamzaoğlu added that he had spoken with Martial's management company and their only issue was his suggestion that Martial had been offered for free, confirming that they had not talks with United.

Although Hamzaoğlu has stood by his report, stating that "Martial was clearly recommended to Fenerbahce".

Fenerbahce are also said to have submitted a €15m bid for United midfielder Fred, with negotiations underway.
