Spurs have already made 'discreet enquiries' about the availability of Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, but the North London club were put off by the Norwegian striker's steep wage demands.

That's according to The Mail, who claim the Premier League side have been planning for the 'likely' departure of Harry Kane for weeks as the England international looks set to leave the club this summer.

It was reported on Monday that Kane has informed the club he wants to leave, with Spurs placing a sensational price tag of £150 million on their star striker.

But there has been an acceptance for some time that the prolific goalscorer was going to depart and, to prepare for that instance, recruitment staff at Spurs have been hard at work finding a suitable replacement.

In February, it is believed the North London club made enquiries about the terms required by Dortmund for the in-demand Haaland, although his excessive £350,000 a week wage demands stopped them in their tracks.

Spurs have also been identifying players who could be involved in a potential swap deal, with Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United forward Anthony Martial cropping up in The Mail's report.

In terms of those interested in Kane's services, Manchester United and Manchester City are the obvious choices.

Chelsea have also been linked with a move, as well as PSG, who are also thought to be keen if he is willing to leave the Premier League.

Despite the ongoing rumours suggesting a departure, the 27-year-old has yet to hand in a transfer request, according to BBC Sport, who report that the England international has also yet to directly communicate a wish to leave.

That being said, he reportedly has a gentleman's agreement that would allow him to leave Spurs this summer.
