Juan Mata Rejects Incredible Offer In Transfer Window To 'Win A Title' At Manchester United This Season

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata turned down a lucrative offer in the summer transfer window because he wants to win a trophy at Old Trafford this season.

Mata, who has yet to make a Premier League appearance this season, has featured in two Carabao Cup clashes against Brighton and Luton Town, where he undoubtedly impressed but a permanent place in the starting XI remains unlikely.

In fact, the 32-year-old is far from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's first choice in attacking areas.

He is currently behind the likes of Bruno Fernandes and Mason Greenwood in the overall pecking order and realistically, Mata will have to settle for appearances in cup competitions.

But despite all of this, the former Chelsea midfielder has pledged his future to the Reds after being offered a stunning contract from a club in Saudi Arabia.

The Saudi club initially came in with a €16 million-a-year offer, which was swiftly rejected by Mata's father, who is also his agent. They then increased that offer to €20 million, according to Spanish publication AS.

That mega-money contract offer was once again rejected by Mata's people, who thanked them for their interest but insisted the player wanted to stay in Manchester so he can continue competing at the top level.

In addition the report states that despite a poor start to the Premier League campaign, the Spaniard believes United have done some 'good planning' of late.

He is also convinced that United can win a title this season.

It was revealed earlier this year that Mata was the highest paid substitute in the Premier League last season with his reported £160,000-per-week contract.

Do you think he has made the right decision to stay at Old Trafford? Or should he have gone elsewhere to try and get more first team football?
