The Red Devils took the lead in the first half as Ronaldo came charging into the box and scored a thumping header after connecting with Scholes' sublime cross.
Footage of Ronaldo's header has since made the rounds on Twitter, with fans amazed at how the former United star wasn't in the video frame when Scholes played his cross.
"Never forget that goal... he's not even in the picture when the cross gets delivered," one Twitter user said.
Another fan posted: "My favourite Ronaldo goal. Desire, bravery and just being a physical monster!"
And a third tweeted: "The fact that Scholes floated the cross in and he managed to generate that much power to send it bottom corner speaks volumes."
A fourth user added: "My favourite Ronaldo goal this. The bravery and execution for the header and the class, quality and vision of the ball from Scholes everything about this goal is awesome."
United legend Wayne Rooney bundled home the Red Devils' second in the 66th minute to seal a 2-0 victory on the night.
The Red Devils followed up their triumph in Rome with a 1-0 victory at Old Trafford before beating Barcelona in the semi-finals.
