Wayne Rooney Makes Game-Saving Tackle In 95th Minute And Produces Incredible Assist

Wayne Rooney has forged a reputation in years gone by for his incredible work rate and stamina.

Last night, the 32-year-old proved to the world that he has still got that drive and determination to win a game at all costs.

It looked like MLS opponents Orlando City were about to create a dangerous goal-scoring opportunity in the 95th minute but that man, Rooney, sprinted back to win the ball back in heroic fashion.

The former Manchester United striker then produced a magnificent 30-yard, cross-field ball to give teammate Luciano Costa a relatively simple header to win the game in extra time.

Rooney was so exhausted that he didn't even run over to his teammates to celebrate. Now this is what you call a game-winning moment.

Major League Soccer's official Twitter account quickly posted footage of the moment and it went viral in a matter of seconds, eventually picking up more than 27,000 RT's in a few hours, at the time of writing.

It has been an eventful couple of weeks for Rooney, especially in stoppage time.

The 32-year-old, who captained his side to victory against DC United last month, converted past his former teammate Tim Howard in a 2-1 win over Colorado Rapids.

It was all going so swimmingly until the final minutes. Rooney successfully defended a corner in the last minute to retain the lead, but in the meantime, he suffered a horrific broken nose.

The former Manchester United striker fell to the ground after a push, but an emotionless Rooney quickly got up.

To the shock of those watching at home, blood gushed from his face as he tried to wipe it off with his sleeve. He didn't roll around, like a certain someone, and continued on.

What a man.
