Underrated...

Back in January this year, Claudio Ranieri's Leicester City made their first move of the transfer window with the Β£15 million signing of midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from KRC Genk.

It was considered a shrewd piece of business at the time, but not many predicted that the 20-year-old would adapt to Premier League life so quickly. Ndidi would quickly become a big hit at the King Power stadium, with some comparing him to their former midfield maestro, N'Golo Kante.

At such a young age, the Nigerian has held his own in Leicester's midfield for two seasons - especially with the sudden departure of both Kante and Danny Drinkwater, who were vital in Leicester City's unprecedented title win in 2015/16

Throughout Leicester City's impressive form in recent weeks, Ndidi's influence has been clear and finally, people are starting to recognise him as one of the best ball winning midfielders in Europe.

A number of stats have come to light following their dominant victory against Southampton on Wednesday evening, including a number of Premier League records this season.

Wilfried Ndidi has the most tackles in the Premier League this season (73) as well as the most tackles per 90 minutes in the Premier League (4.3)

He is also responsible for 25.3% of total Leicester tackles in 2017.

The fact that the likes of Idrissa Gueye gets more credit than the likes of Ndidi is somewhat baffling considering his impressive form in recent weeks.

During Leicester's 3-2 win against Newcastle at St James' park on Saturday, the Nigerian proved his importance to the side with an efficient performance, winning plenty of tackles throughout.

Ndidi has been popular on Twitter in recent weeks, and many have reacted to his underrated role of late.
