Earlier this week, FIFA revealed the shortlisted candidates for the 2018 Best FIFA Men's Player, which will be presented in London on 24 September.
Cristiano Ronaldo scooped the award last year, beating the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar to the prestigious trophy and for the past two years, in fact, the 33-year-old has taken 'The Best Men's Player.'
But things could be very different this year, according to a recent fan poll of 30,000 participants.
Spanish publication AS conducted the online poll that included the following nominees: Cristiano Ronaldo, Kevin De Bruyne, Antoine Griezmann, Eden Hazard, Harry Kane, Kylian Mbappé, Lionel Messi, Luka Modrić, Mohamed Salah and Raphaël Varane.
In a monumental victory, Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric received 14,227 votes (46.78%) while Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi lagged behind in second and third.
Mohamed Salah only picked up 0.8% of the vote, despite his incredible first season with Liverpool, while fellow Premier League striker Harry Kane was awarded just 34 votes in total.

The fact that Modric received double the votes of Cristiano Ronaldo, who scored 54 goals in 54 games last season, shows how much of an impact he has made with Los Blancos and Croatia at the World Cup, this summer.
Fans will have their say in the FIFA best awards in September in a public ballot, but the captains and head coaches of national teams will also play a huge role in crowning the new winner.
