Barcelona were reduced to 10 men at the end of the first half thanks to a nasty incident involving Sergi Roberto, but the brilliance of Lionel Messi was once again the talking point in a typically feisty Clasico.
Ernesto Valverde's side took the lead in the 10th minute when Luis Suarez netted an impressive opener.
Four minutes later though, Cristiano Ronaldo equalled Alfredo Di Stefano as the all-time Real Madrid top-scorer in El Clasico's.
Both sides finished the half strongly, then seven minutes into the second half, Lionel Messi scored a superb effort after Suarez stole the ball inside Los Blancos' half.

Shortly after Messi netted, a ridiculous stat emerged about their goalscoring records.
Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have now scored 1,000 goals between them for Barcelona and Real Madrid, which is absolutely insane when you think about it.
Gareth Bale, who has struggled for minutes in recent weeks, leveled the scoreline with a stunning finish in the 72nd minute, which may just sway Zinedine Zidane's plans for the Champions League final.
