Paraguayan side Sporting Club 2 de Mayo have been forced to employ a stray dog as their 'assistant manager' after manager Carlos Jara Saguier fed it some food.

The dog is constantly by Saguier's side, even when the 61-year-old is leading training sessions and giving out tactics on the touchline.

You can even grab a word with the dedicated pooch in post-match interviews.

Before you say it yes, this is the best story of 2018 so far and the journey to his new role is even more heartwarming. Take it away, Carlos:

"I gave him a piece of pie [empanada] and from that day on, every time I came to work, he greeted me. He no longer ran away from me. Now he threatens our opponents with a grunt." the manager said.

"The dog lives in the clubhouse, he never gets away from me and when I close the doors to go home and he stays there, he gets a bit annoyed.

"But by day he's so friendly and everyone loves it."

The manager goes on to tell how the pooch goes everywhere with him, even imitating the movement of the players. Isn't that just the greatest thing, ever? We might see the loving pet on the pitch in no time:

"He takes me on the field, in the offices, in the corridors and he does not want anyone to leave him, he's my partner in this adventure with this club.

"The thing that makes me laugh is he tries to imitate the movement of the players during training."

Look, he's even made the local paper:

She will never leave Carlos' side, even in the darkest of hours. What a brilliant story.
