In a scene reminiscent of last season's Champions League final, Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon pulled off a 'Loris Karius' in their Europa League group stage tie against Salzburg, handing striker Fredrik Gulbrandsen the easiest goal of his life.

Gordon decided to try and throw the ball out to defender Filip Benkovic, but just like Karius did back in May, the opposition managed to intercept the ball.

Gulbrandsen made it 2-0 in the 77th minute and despite eventual defeat, the Scottish Premier League side managed to qualify thanks to third place RP Leipzig conceding a late equaliser against Rosenberg.

You got away with one here, Craig lad.

Gordon tried to explain the thought process behind his error after the defeat:

"It doesn't happen very often that a striker presses the keeper's distribution from hand like that so it's something you don't expect," Gordon said via The Glasgow Evening Times.

"I was trying to get on with things quickly as we were chasing the game at the time.

"He's read the throw and managed to get the block but you could say it's good striker play, whatever you want.

"It's ended up in the net and that was the second goal and I could beat myself up about it all night but the main thing was that we got through."

He won't want to watch the highlights of this game in a hurry, that's for sure.
