He never fails to amaze.

He might have celebrated his 33rd birthday in February, but the almost machine-like figure of Cristiano Ronaldo has once again proven that age is no obstacle.

The Portugal captain has officially recorded the fastest top speed at the World Cup this summer. beating 735 players at the tournament in terms of raw pace.

As well as bagging a hat-trick against arguably the best goalkeeper in world football, David de Gea, the Real Madrid forward reached a top speed of 34km/h during Portugal's opener against Spain.

A truly ridiculous stat considering his age.

If you didn't catch his 80 yard sprint on the counter attack against Spain, then you've missed out.

Portugal broke following a corner-kick, which included Ronaldo racing down the length of the pitch showing off his incredible speed.

Peru full-back Luis Advincula clocked a top speed of 33.8 km/h, while some might be surprised to see Belgium striker Rome coming third in the list of fastest players, recording a time of 32.8 km/h.

Let's try and put Cristiano Ronaldo's incredible fitness into perspective.

Real Madrid's coaching staff performed a series of tests on Cristiano Ronaldo's body that indicated that he has the physical condition of a 23-year old.

The man himself has recently claimed that he will carry on playing for another eight years.

It was revealed that the 33-year-old has the fat content of 7%. If you compare this to other footballers, the average is around 10 or 11%, according to a report from Spanish publication AS.

Ronaldo also has a muscle mass of 50%, and again, if you compare it again to other professionals, the usual figure doesn't exceed 46%.

In an interview with Spanish television programme El Chiringuito, Ronaldo confirmed that he has the biological age of a 23-year-old.

He then went on to claim that he will play until he is 41, which doesn't surprise me considering his record of late. The former Manchester United winger just isn't showing signs of slowing down, even if people did doubt him at the start of the season.

"I've still got a long time left, I can keep playing until I'm 41," he said. I'm feeling good, happy, I can't complain. We are playing another final on Saturday and the fans are behind Cristiano."

Truly staggering. I reckon the five time Ballon d'Or winner will play at the highest level for years to come.
