Last season's PFA Player of the Year Mohamed Salah has reacted to Virgil van Dijk being crowned 2018/19 PFA Player of the Year.

Van Dijk succeeds his teammate Salah who won the prestigious award in 2017/18, and Liverpool's 'Egyptian King' has brilliantly reacted to the Dutchman being named the best player in the league by his fellow players.

Salah uploaded a picture of him, and Van Dijk accompanied with the words: "Just be careful and don't win win all the awards this year... otherwise you know what will happen next year!"

Of course, he's warning Van Dijk not to scoop all the individual awards, so he doesn't get labelled as a bad player next season like him.

Salah's been unfairly criticised for his performances despite scoring 21 league goals and creating eight. He's the leading scorer in the Premier League with two games remaining.

Meanwhile, Van Dijk is honoured to receive the PFA Player of the Year award.

"It's pretty difficult to put into words," he said.

"I think it's the highest honour you can get as a player to get voted player of the year by the players you play against every week. It's special. I'm very proud and honoured to receive it."

Liverpool's commanding No.4 is the first defender to take the award since Chelsea's John Terry in 2004/05.

And he's a deserving winner. The 27-year-old has been incredible at the back, keeping an impressive 17 clean sheets.

Van Dijk will be looking to steer his side to Premier League glory. Liverpool are just one point behind Manchester City as they go head-to-head in an unprecedented title race.
