Marcus Rashford left Manchester United fans speechless after missing an absolute sitter against Brighton on Sunday.

The 22-year-old United forward linked up with Anthony Martial in the 66th minute and saw his drilled effort hit the crossbar and land in the back of the net.

But only minutes later Rashford squandered a brilliant opportunity to complete his brace when Daniel James found space on the right and squared the ball into the path of him.

The England international poked his close-range effort wide of the left-hand post to deny United a 4-1 win at Old Trafford.

And United fans have flooded social media with messages in disbelief at Rashford's miss.

Andreas Pereira opened the scoring for United in the 19th minute after his deflected effort beat Mathew Ryan.

And only two minutes later Davy Propper bundled the ball into the back of his own net as he attempted to stop Scott McTominay from scoring.

Lewis Dunk handed Brighton a lifeline in the second half, only for Rashford to restore United's two-goal advantage.

United's 3-1 victory moves them to seventh in the Premier League table, while Brighton have dropped to 11th place.
