Marc-Andre ter Stegen produced a magnificent assist to Luis Suarez and allowed the Barcelona striker to open the scoring against Getafe with a sensational chip.

The 27-year-old German shot-stopper came charging off his line to meet Djene Dakonam's long ball over the Barcelona backline.

And Ter Stegen wasted little time in hoofing the ball back up the pitch and directly into the path of Suarez.

The 32-year-old ex-Liverpool striker maintained his mojo as David Soria came running out of the Getafe net to meet him.

But Suarez, who was booed at the Camp Nou in Barca's win over Villarreal on Tuesday, calmly chipped the ball over the Getafe shot-stopper with a delightful finish to open the scoring in the first half.

Fans have flooded social media with praise for Ter Stegen as he helped Barcelona break the deadlock at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez.

"Wonderful assist from Ter Stegen," one fan tweeted.

Twitter user Power Circles posted: "I'm not going to [be] Bias because i support my club, MANCHESTER UNITED, but the best keeper in the world right now is MARC - ANDRE TER STEGEN .... FACT!!!"

Barca fan Kasoa Baahubali said: "Ter Stegen with an assist. He can go ahead and score and Joachim Low will still bench him."

A fourth added: "Ter-Stegen with an assist wow."

Barcelona doubled their lead against Getafe in the second half thanks to summer signing Junior Firpo.

Soria spilled Carles Perez's effort and the 23-year-old left-back pounced on the error and buried the ball into the back of the net.

Full-time result: Barcelona were reduced to ten men after Clement Lenglet picked up a second yellow card for stepping on Molina's foot.

But the defending Spanish champions walked away with all three points as they beat Getafe 2-0.
