Remember when Liverpool fans changed their profile pictures to Ashley Barnes before Burnley played Manchester City? Well, Twitter hasn't forgot following his match winner last night.

Barnes sensationally ended Liverpool's 68-game unbeaten home run in the Premier League with a late winner from the penalty spot in his side's 1-0 victory.

The defending English champions are now six points behind league leaders Manchester United with Jurgen Klopp bearing the brunt of the blame.

A miserable night for the Reds was compounded further by football fans who brought up their social media campaign about Barnes ahead of Man City's clash against Burnley during the 2018/2019 season.

Basically, Liverpool fans were urged to change their profile pictures to the striker with many supporters obliging, changing it to the 31-year-old.

Despite Liverpool's attempts, City ran out 1-0 winners at Burnley - eventually winning the league.

After Barnes popped up with the winning goal at Anfield, fans were quick to mock Liverpool over their social media stunt from 2019.

Liverpool are going through a blip having not won a league game since their 7-0 thrashing of Crystal Palace last month.

And they've only scored one league goal since that win with their sole strike coming against West Brom.

The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have fired blank during defeats to Southampton and Burnley and draws to Newcastle and Man United.

Liverpool face the league leaders in the FA Cup at Old Trafford on Sunday before resuming their league campaign at Tottenham next Thursday.
