Harry Maguire proved he is an elite centre-back after dropping a masterclass for England against Denmark at Euro 2020.

Maguire starred as England beat Denmark 2-1 on Wednesday to book their spot in the final of Euro 2020.

The Manchester United man performed heroically at the back on a night that the Three Lions won a major international semi-final.

He was commanding in defence alongside John Stones, winning the majority of his aerial duels.

The six-foot-four defender also showed off his composure on the ball, playing out from the back - picking out passes to the midfield and Harry Kane.

Maguire was defensively sound as he kept the likes of Martin Braithwaite and Yussuf Poulsen relatively quiet.

The 28-year-old wasn't available for England's first two matches through injury, but he has shown his worth to the team - becoming an extremely crucial member of Gareth Southgate's side.

A stunning compilation of his showing against Denmark shows what a game he had. Colossal.

Needless to say, Maguire's outing sent social media wild.

One tweeted: "If Maguire was Italian or French, they'd be saying he's the best defender in the world."

A second wrote: "The way Maguire has improved his game on the ball is a credit to him."

A third added: "He's been so good this tournament and considering he was nursing an injury before and after his call-up, incredible run so far."

Another commented: "Some performance in an international semi-final."
