Megan Rapinoe Fires Back At Donald Trump Over His 'Leftist Maniacs' Claim

Megan Rapinoe has fired back at Donald Trump after he branded the US women's football team 'leftist maniacs' following their Tokyo Olympics failure.

Rapinoe and Co lost out on a gold medal after losing to eventual-winners Canada in the semi-final.

The US women's team, though, secured a bronze medal after beating Australia.

But that did not stop Trump from aiming a dig at them, calling the team 'wokesters' in a damning assessment of their showing this summer.

He said: "If our soccer team, headed by a radical group of leftist maniacs, wasn't woke, they would have won the gold medal instead of the bronze.

"Woke means you lose, everything that is woke goes bad, and our soccer team certainly has. There were, however, a few patriots standing.

"Unfortunately, they need more than that respecting our country and national anthem. They should replace the wokesters with patriots and start winning again.

"The woman with the purple hair played terribly and spends too much time thinking about radical left politics and not doing her job!"

Rapinoe has since responded to the former US president's comments, questioning his allegiances.

"It's a real sad dig into an old bag," she said via The Hill. "I'm just like, 'You're rooting for people to do bad?' Yikes."
