It may well have been the star-studded testimonial ever...

Andrea Pirlo's star-studded testimonial was the perfect way to celebrate his illustrious career - and it was fitting that he left the pitch to a standing ovation and was replaced by his 14-year old son.

The game at the San Siro which finished 7-7, had legends galore. From the likes of Filippo Inzaghi, who managed to bag a hat-trick in the testimonial, to Francesco Totti, Clarence Seedorf, Alessandro Del Piero and Alessandro Nesta.

Not to mention Christian Vieri, Gianluigi Buffon, Rui Costa, Gennaro Gattuso, Paolo Maldini, Cafu and Luca Toni, among so many other iconic figures, including the only British representative, Frank Lampard, who played with Pirlo during his stint at New York City.

Pirlo played for both sides in his charity match, vacating the hallowed turf on the 80th minute and coming in off in place of his son, Niccolo.

The youngster, wearing his dad's iconic number, trotted onto the pitch and had the incredible experience of playing at the San Siro, sharing the pitch with some of the greatest players ever to play the game.

Of course, his first contribution was to try and play a through ball in behind in attempt to channel his father. Him coming on to replace his old man, like what happened with Eidur Gudjohnsen and his dad in an international game for Iceland many moons back, was a wonderful moment.

Thanks for the memories, Andrea.
