Pep Guardiola has met with Bayern Munich ace Robert Lewandowski during the current international break, as reported by the Mirror.

Guardiola coached Lewandowski in a just under a three-year spell with Bundesliga giants, and the pair were pictured deep in conversation at Poland's training base in Girona ahead of their upcoming World Cup qualifier against Andorra.

The City Football Group own a 47% stake in Girona and Pere Guardiola - the leader of the Girona Football Group, owns 16% of the Spanish second-tier club.

The current Manchester City boss was in charge at the Allianz Arena when Lewandowski arrived at the club from Borussia Dortmund, and scored 67 goals in the two seasons they worked together.

Gabriel Jesus is currently the only senior striker on the books at City, meaning reinforcements in this area are likely in the New Year.

Lewandowski has previously admitted to being in dialogue with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, but did not elaborate on what was discussed with the Los Blancos supremo.

"It's true that I met the president of Real Madrid Florentino Perez once or twice after some matches in Madrid, but I can't say more," he Gazzetta dello Sport in quotes published by the Mirror.

"With Bayern, I play in the Champions League every season against clubs from other countries, and I can show how good I am."

The 33-year-old has an outstanding record with Bayern after netting an astonishing 317 goals in 346 appearances for the Bavarian side.

His haul of silverware is equally impressive, and currently includes 9 Bundesliga titles, 4 German Cups and 1 Champions League title.

He is also Poland's record goalscorer by some distance, with 72 goals in 127 caps. Lewandowski will be hoping to add to that tally against Andorra on Friday, before they host Hungary in Warsaw next Monday.
