An Egyptian fencer celebrated victory at the Olympics by performing Cristiano Ronaldo's trademark 'SIUU!'.

Mohamed Elsayed, 18, carried out a huge upset when he knocked out Yannick Borel, a three-time world champion, in the first round in Tokyo.

The Frenchman was the overwhelming favourite for the epee bout, having won gold at the 2016 Olympics in Rio.

But Elsayed came out on top and celebrated wildly by channelling his inner CR7. Full of passion, whisked off his mask, sprinted off and jumped in the air while hosting his arms out - imitating Ronaldo's iconic celebration.

The celebration has gone viral on social media, with staunch Ronaldo fans in particular loving it:

For years now, Ronaldo has been celebrating goals in the same way and even getting the whole stadium to shout 'SIUU' in unison.

He also did it at the 2015 ceremony when he won the Ballon d'Or.

"The scream? The players know I always do that shout when I score a goal or when we win," he told Cuatro, explaining where the celebration came from.

"It's our team shout, from Real Madrid."

Elsayed was eventually eliminated in the quarter-finals, losing to Ihor Reizlin of Ukraine.
