Neymar Draws Criticism For What He Did When Brazil Returned From World Cup

Neymar's World Cup ultimately saw him become a meme...

Neymar's second World Cup campaign didn't end well at all and he's caused a stir by going into hiding as soon as Tite's side returned to Brazil following their quarter final defeat to Belgium.

AS say that hundreds of fans made their way to the airport to greet the team when they returned home but Neymar was nowhere to be seen. He was on the flight back with the rest of the squad but is said to have sneaked out of the back door and avoided supporters, angering many people as a result.

It's not compulsory for Neymar but you can understand why his failure to show his face isn't going down well.

Going into the tournament after recently returning from an injury, the world's most expensive player scored twice in the group stages but he only showed flashes of his ability and ultimately didn't deliver.

In fact, he spent most of his time in Russia on the floor, diving and rolling all over the place in games in an attempt to con the referee.

It's prompted some football coaches to invent the 'Neymar drill' - where they simply shout his name and the entire kids team hurl themselves to the deck.

The meme has become something else, with Mexican team Club Tijuana introducing the 'Neymar challenge' at half time - the task seeing fans race from the halfway line to the end of the pitch by rolling around.

Despite being a giant footballing nation, Brazil have not won the World Cup since 2002 and will need their talisman to fare much better in Qatar in four years time.
