Newcastle United have made contact with superstar defender Kalidou Koulibaly over an audacious summer move.
A Saudi consortium is on the verge of buying the Premier League club after having a mega £300 million bid accepted by current owner Mike Ashley.
And it seems the new owners have their eye on Napoli's Koulibaly, whose been the subject of intense transfer speculation with Manchester United keeping tabs on the 28-year-old.
But the North East outfit are hoping to pip the Reds to the signing of Koulibaly as they've already opened discussions with his club over a transfer, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.
The player has already heard from Newcastle's transfer chiefs, too.
Reports claim that Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to offload the defender, but will command a huge transfer fee in the region of £70 million.
Newcastle will have the richest owners in world football if they're taken over and their 'potential XI' is ridiculous.

Newcastle have also expressed a desire in snapping up Paris Saint-Germain's Edinson Cavani as well as Real Betis' Nabil Fekir.
The Uruguayan striker is out of contract this summer with the 33-year-old weighing up his next move, while the French ace is attracting interest from Newcastle's potential new owners.
The 26-year-old, who caught the eyes of both Liverpool and Chelsea last summer, is believed to be valued at around £43 million.
Will Koulibaly, Cavani or Fekir be a part of Newcastle's ambitious project? Watch this space.
