Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar responded perfectly to the racist abuse Romelu Lukaku suffered at the hands of Cagliari fans last night.

As he stepped up to take a penalty and score the winner in his second game in Serie A, Lukaku was met with disgusting monkey chants from Cagliari fans behind the goal.

The chants then continued and even intensified after Lukaku found the net for his second goal in Inter colours. It's just the latest in a long list of disgraceful incidents involving Cagliari supporters, who have racially abused Samuel Eto'o, Sulley Muntari, Blaise Matuidi and Moise Kean over the years.

Lukaku gave the fans a stare as he celebrated with his teammates, one of which was Skriniar. He took it upon himself to shush the opposition fans following their sickening behaviour and explained why after the game.

Skriniar's actions are all the more commendable given the naive response seasoned professional Leonardo Bonucci had last season when Juventus striker Kean scored and celebrated in front of the Cagliari fans that had been racially abusing him all game.

The Italian pulled his teammate away and said he was partly to blame for the abuse, before later apologising and clarifying his comments..
