Mesut Ozil Linked With Surprise Move Away From Arsenal

Could he be on the move when the summer rolls around?

For months now, the football media has been dominated by stories regarding Arsenal duo Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

The two have yet to sign new contracts at the club and the stories of them leaving the club have only increased.

Sanchez has been linked with a whole host of clubs, with the likes of Juventus, Sevilla, Paris Saint-Germain and the Chinese Super League all viewed as potential destinations should the Chilean leave as expected.

Ozil, who is in a similar situation to Sanchez, has not been linked with anywhere near as many clubs but a story about a possible transfer for the German international has emerged.

Matt Law from The Telegraph reports that Arsene Wenger, who himself has not made an announcement on his future as of yet, has become frustrated with both Sanchez and Ozil and is prepared to listen to offers for the latter.

Ozil was particularly frustrated after the 3-1 defeat to Chelsea last month:

The potential offer that is being talked about is from Turkish side Fenerbahce.

Ozil has Turkish heritage from his parents and the consensus is that Fenerbahce will try and sign him permanently in the summer.

The former Real Madrid man has been offered a new deal at Arsenal, though he has not responded as of yet.

And Fenerbahce want to take advantage of the situation by going after him in the summer.

Former Arsenal man Robin van Persie is the main man at the Istanbul club at present but he looks set to leave after two seasons in Turkey.

That would free up space for Ozil, who would command big wages and a likely transfer fee of £30 million plus.

Arsenal forked out £42.5m to make the 28-year old their record signing in 2013 and would want a fairly sizeable fee if he does leave the club, even if he does only have a year left on his deal at the Emirates.

The Telegraph say that Fenerbahce might be Ozil's best bet in terms of a transfer as there has been little interest from other clubs.

Arsenal have sold several of their top stars to rivals in the Premier League over the years but they would surely not let that happen again in the case of Ozil.

Even with his links to Turkey, the Fenerbahce move would be a surprise one as despite his performance level dropping recently, you'd think that he'd still be able to turn out for a top European club.

Fenerbahce are currently in fourth place in the Turkish top flight, 11 points behind leaders Besiktas.

Do you think Ozil will be out the door in the summer? Could he get a better move than Fenerbahce?
