PSG Star Marquinhos’ Family 'Held Hostage' By Robbers During Home Invasion

Paris Saint-Germain star Marquinhos had his home targeted by intruders and his family were held hostage by robbers, according to stunning reports.

The 26-year-old Brazilian defender was in action during PSG's shock 2-1 defeat to Nantes at the Parc des Princes on Sunday.

Marquinhos' teammate Angel Di Maria was withdrawn during the match as he rushed to his home after his family were held hostage during a robbery.

According to reports, Di Maria left the Parc des Princes 'immediately' after he was informed of the home invasion.

The 33-year-old Argentine forward's wife and children were reportedly held hostage by the robbers.

ESPN now reports that Marquinhos was another PSG player targeted by home invaders during the Nantes match.

The publication claims that the PSG skipper's parents were home at the time and were held hostage by the robbers.

French police have launched an investigation into the matter, with PSG also offering their full support to Marquinhos, Di Maria and their respective families.

Di Maria was previously targeted by home invaders in 2015 during his ill-fated spell at Manchester United.

PSG's defeat to Nantes leaves the defending French champions three points behind Ligue 1 leaders Lille.

Julian Draxler fired PSG into the lead in the first half against Nantes, but Mauricio Pochettino later admitted that his side "struggled" after Randal Kolo's second-half equaliser.

Speaking at his post-match press conference, PSG boss Pochettino explained: "We started the match well, we made the difference.

"After the equaliser, the match became more open, we suffered, we struggled.

"We were not strong enough. It was a difficult match. We missed the opportunity to go top of the table, we lost points.

"It makes things more difficult, but there are still a lot of matches left. It is always frustrating to drop points.

"For a Champions League match, there was a lot of physical and mental energy demanded. And now we can see that we struggled.

"There are situations outside of football that also explain the second half. It is not an excuse but it brought about a reduction in energy. At full-time, we spoke about things other than football."
