A lot has been made about the wages Manchester United are rumoured to be paying new signing Alexis Sanchez, but according to the club it's less than what has been reported.

The consensus amongst the media has been that the Chilean is being paid around £500,000-a-week on his four-and-a-half year contract and it brought plenty of criticism for both the club and player.

However, the club say he is not being paid the figure which has been been doing the rounds. Instead, as per Miguel Delaney from The Independent, the official line from United is that he is earning the same level of salary as Paul Pogba - thought to be around £300,000-a-week.

There has been talk that Paul Pogba, flanked by his agent Mino Raiola, will demand a new deal following the capture of Sanchez.

He signed a contract until 2021, with the option of an extra year, when he returned to Old Trafford for £89 million in 2016.

Simon Mullock from The Mirror says Raiola is ready to demand United increases his wages and further highlight his importance to the team.
