Manchester City could be ready to hijack Barcelona's move for Antoine Griezmann after reports suggest that they want to sign him in the summer.

The 28-year-old forward revealed that he would be leaving Atlético Madrid at the end of the season and the La Liga champions are the favourites to land him.

However, Sport has reported that the Premier League champions would be 'willing to pay' the World Cup-winning Frenchman's €120m release clause.

City and the Spanish club are not the only ones interested in signing Griezmann this summer.

In fact, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain would also be ready to pay up to €100m to land the Atlético ace.

The Premier League side are looking to reinforce their squad after a nail-biting title challenge from Liverpool.

In fact, it has been reported that the City uppers would hand manager Pep Guardiola up to £200m to spend in the summer, with one of his targets believed to be an attacking forward.

Griezmann announced his departure in a video message posted on Twitter.

"I wanted to tell the fans who have always given me a lot of love that I have taken the decision to leave, to see other things, to have other challenges," he said.

"The truth is it has been difficult to take this route, but it is what I feel I need and I would like to thank all of you for the love you have shown me during these five years."

The France international signed for Los Rojiblancos in 2014 and he has made over 170 appearances during his time at the Wanda Metropolitano.

Griezmann had been linked with a move to Barcelona in the past, but he signed a new deal with Atlético back in 2018.

Will City sign Griezmann ahead of Barcelona?
