Borussia Dortmund are reportedly ready to slash off a hefty part of Jadon Sancho's price tag in the hopes of reigniting Manchester United's pursuit of the player.

Sancho, 20, has repeatedly been linked with United and was the Red Devils No 1 transfer target last summer.

However, Dortmund played hardball at the negotiating table and remained firm on their £108m valuation for the English winger.

United reportedly made a bid in the region of £93m for Sancho, but Dortmund held on to the player for at least one more season.

German newspaper Bild now claims that Dortmund would be willing to knock £20m off their previous asking price for Sancho.

An £88m price tag for the Dortmund star could once again attract United's interest, especially due to the financial knock-on effects caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sancho, who is under contract until 2023, has made 25 appearances across all competitions and scored eight times and registered 13 assists.

However, United's interest in Sancho might have faded after splashing out £37m to sign Amad Diallo from Atalanta.

United legend Gary Neville branded the Red Devils' pursuit of Sancho last summer "embarrassing."

The Sky Sports pundit explained: "The Sancho thing is embarrassing. It's been going on now for fourth months. It's embarrassing, that.

"And then to put a bid in that gets rejected... the smart clubs, they have deals sorted behind the scenes, the agents are working hard, club officials are agreed on things and when the bids goes in it gets accepted, it's done.

"Who puts bids in nowadays that aren't accepted? That doesn't happen that often. Very rarely.

"Generally, clubs have the deal sorted, the agents know what the player's getting, the player knows what the club are getting, the club knows what the other club are getting.

"I just don't understand it at all, it's not great. That's why I've been critical."
