Loris Karius produced a classic Loris Karius mistake to gift Slovan Bratislava their opening goal in the Europa League tonight.

14 minutes into the game, the Besiktas No.1 came charging out of his goal to try and thwart a counter attack following a long punt up the pitch.

He tried to sweep up by heading the ball away and ended up completely misjudging the flight of it, knocking himself and his teammate to the floor and allowing Andraž Šporar to tuck the ball into the empty net.

Vintage Karius. Of course this isn't the German's most high-profile error on the European stage as in the 2018 Champions League final in Kyiv he made two high-profile errors to gift Real Madrid the game.

First he rolled the ball straight to Karim Benzema to score the easiest opener before dropping Gareth Bale's swerving long-range shot into the net to the make score 3-1.

Karius was in tears at the end of the game after costing Liverpool the final in the biggest game of his career and it pretty much ended his career on Merseyside, leading to his two-year loan to Besiktas.

Earlier in the game, the former Mainz man was involved in a collision with Real skipper Sergio Ramos - and it emerged that he tested positive on 26 of 30 concussion tests he underwent at Massachusetts General Hospital under the watchful eye of Dr. Ross Zafonte on May 31.

He does not appear to have improved over in Turkey, as shown by his calamitous error in tonight's 4-2 defeat.
