Pierluigi Collina Wants One Rule To Be Properly Observed

Refs have been slacking.

As a referee Pierluigi Collina had the ability to make players sh*t themselves in fear just with one look. As the referee chief for the Euros he is definitely worth listening to and he's not happy with the refs at Euro 2016 for not observing one rule.

Often fans complain that they just want "consistent" officiating in matches but it's probably better to have correct decisions and that's certainly what the Italian former ref wants. He's spotted a mistake in the rules that referees aren't clamping down on and he wants something done, and it's not foul throws.

During Spain's match against Croatia the Spanish got a very debatable penalty but Sergio Ramos saw his spot kick saved however Croatian goalkeeper Danijel Subasic was so far off his line he was nearly hugging Ramos, a slight over exaggeration.

Considering how many officials there are it's a wonder they can miss that and Collina wants them to clamp down on it with yellow cards and retaken penalties with the 56 year old saying "Referees should pay attention that the penalty kicks are taken correctly. It should be retaken and whenever the goalkeeper infringes, he will be cautioned."

The Italian also added that the rule should also apply during penalty shootouts, where one missed by the ref or assistant could have an even greater impact on the game. Collina was happy with the overall officiating at the tournament.
